The author of Mets Analyst is old enough to have been allowed to stay up past his bedtime to watch Joe Torre ground into the double play that ended the game when the Mets clinched the division in 1969, to have started reading Bill James in 1982 and to have hugged and whooped with his girlfriend (now wife) at Shea after Game 6 in 1986.
Following a law school career with more hours at Shea Stadium than in the library (and a Rotisserie baseball career in which he "discovered" Frank Thomas, Edgar Martinez and others) the author spent several years as a lawyer for the Major League Baseball Players Association.
The author is now a law professor at a major university where, in addition to his professional ventures, he comments occassionally for the media on baseball and other sports related matters. His baseball writing has been published on the Op-Ed page of the New York Times, and he has been quoted in A.P. stories, at ESPN.com and elsewhere.
